El Gounais one of the most reliable places for steady winds in the northern hemisphere, presenting excellent wind stats!
This is our choice destination for both beginners and experienced freestyle kiters, as the waters are calm and flat, with chop at high tide. Waves can occasionally be found on the outer reefs.
There is a large, shallow lagoon (knee-deep to waist-high) with dedicated zones for beginners and experienced kiters. The size of the lagoon leaves plenty of room, even with high numbers of kiters on the water.
The wind is consistent from the north running cross-shore. There is also a free rescue/monitoring boat service for all course clients of the school, however it’s just a few Euros for storage and rescue services for those renting or taking their own kit.
